When you think about it, the length of time it took Sony to jump onto the achievement bandwagon is simply mind-boggling, considering that the media conglomerate is based in Japan, a country where players will go to great lengths to ensure that they totally complete games. Although the trophy system did eventually arrive, there's still something about it that feels a little shabby, especially when you try and compare your score with friends, a process that devolves into correlating percentages of different types of awards.

In an ideal world it would be awesome if the console manufactures could put their differences aside to create a unified system where points and challenges are not platform specific, but I guess that's about as likely as Too Human getting a sequel. Actually, I just had to Google this to double check that it wasn't and incredibly, it turns out there are some vague plans for another two games for the series, so perhaps my dream isn't that far fetched after all.

Anyway, personal desires aside, let's get down to the nitty gritty of today's Thankless Answer.

Question: [What are the] White Knight Chronicles Achievements?

Answer: There are no achievements. However, there are trophies.

As White Knight Chronicles is one of the dwindling number of PlayStation 3 exclusives, you are going to have to make do with trophies instead of achievements. However, as far as trophies go, the ones in Sony's long awaited RPG are pretty amusing as the developers have extended their role-play theme to cover the awards as well, described them as if they are something you would receive within the game.

Surpassing any country in the current Winter Olympics tally, White Knight Chronicles sports eight gold, seven silver and a further eight bronze medals, the remaining platinum medal reserved for those worthy few who have obtained all other awards.
